Remembering Judy Hankins Aley

Judy Aley with date at the Prom (1962 - Willits High School)

My mother-in-law, Judy Aley died of complications following a routine surgery on Monday, January 28, 2013. She was a gentle, soft spoken soul, who raised six remarkable children.

She will be dearly missed.

Packing up her little apartment in the sleepy town of North Bend, Oregon was rough. It was emotional, with memories packed away at every corner and people popping in and out of rooms asking questions with no real answers.

It was difficult, dirty work and I ended each day feeling like a limp leaf.

Fortunately, every cloud has a silver-lining and getting to reminisce and bond with my 'new' family has been a blessing. All of the memories shared and tears shed has brought us closer and for that I am truly grateful.

Here are some of the pictures we discovered of Ma, before she became the Matriarch of her sprawling, spunky, smart family. Isn't she a cutie?

I'm so dreadfully sorry to hear of the sad loss of your mother-in-law and so suddenly too. I'm sure you will all be comforted by all the memories that photos can bring and you have each other to reminisce. God bless.

So sad! Complications after a routine surgery... that sounds like something has really gone wrong when it never should have done.

The pictures are lovely! I hope that you can be of comfort to each other within her family and circle of friends.

So sorry to hear of your loss, for both you and your husband. Sorrow has a way of building strong bonds though, and it certainly sounds like this was the case with your family.

What wonderful photos!! I'm sure they will be truly cherished.

Hugs and prayers.

I enjoyed viewing the old photographs though. They certainly were darling.

Oh, I am sorry for your loss.
My brother just lost his mother-in-law quite suddenly also and what you describe is just what they are going through.
Take care and remember the love.
